The rest of our Kansas trip

While we were in Kansas for the anniversary, we stayed a few extra days.

We enjoyed two afternoons at the water park. Lincoln was in love with the lazy river and a little slide there. It is a nice water park to spend a couple of hours and use up some energy!

Lincoln's tent he got to sleep in.

Shane's aunt and uncle and their girls came to stay a couple of days after the anniversary. It was nice to see them extra since they live in CO and rarely see them. The girls soaked up Lola time.

Lincoln loved "the gurls" as he called them. They were constantly entertaining them. We were able to do some small fireworks one night.

After each one, Lincoln would say "more, more". It was cute.

For some reason, I never take a lot of pictures while we are there but it was a good time.

60 years of marriage

We ventured to Kansas this past week to celebrate his grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. It was fun to have almost all his family together and have the chance to show off our kiddos to family we rarely see. The party was in Hays so we stayed in the hotel which is usually an adventure within itself with kids.

The Nimz girls minus Lola

Grandpa and Grandma Nimz

They were still kind to each other after 60 years of marriage.

Any Nimz get together involves polka dancing, this was no exception. Grandma and Grandpa grabbed everyone for their turn on the dance floor. Shane's feet apparently weren't working.

Our sweet little family!

Domino's kept Lincoln busy for a little while. It was almost too much for him to wait while I set them all up.

The Nimz family. Dustin and Shannan are about to add one more baby, Reece, to this mix.

Grandma and Grandpa with their 5 children. It seems to be a trait for the Nimz to not smile, at least I know where Shane gets it from.

All the grandkids, minus one cousin.

The four great grandchildren.

Lincoln had a blast and stayed up until 10:30 at night! It was crazy how late it was! But he had a blast playing with Shane's cousins (mostly the girls) and he caught up on the sleep later.

Lola~ 4 months

We were out of town for Lola's 4 month birthday so I am just getting around to it.

I feel like Lola's personality has really started to show this month. She is so chatty! She just talks and talks to whoever is around. When we are in car, I can hear her jabber and squeals from the back. Add that to Lincoln's constant chatter and it's rarely quiet around our house. It is so fun now that she is interacting so much.

She is very giggly when she is tickled. Her laugh is the sweetest sound.

Lola is very smiley! Lincoln was a content baby but he didn't smile like her. She has the sweetest smile and will show almost anyone. Her whole face lights up when she smiles. Getting her out of the bed is the best. When she sees your face over the crib, she smiles like you are her favorite person ever! I love it!

Lola still has very blue eyes and I think they will stay like her daddy's. Her newborn hair is mostly all out and her hair is growing back lighter. I still thinks she looks like me with her face shape.

She is starting to get a tooth already! She has a hard bump on the top and everything goes in her mouth along with lots of drool. Lincoln got all his teeth late so this feels extra early for me.

We started putting Lola in her exasaucer (sp?) this month so she could be off the floor. She loves it! She just squeals and jabbers to the toys on it and tries to grab all the things on it. She likes to be in the action so it is nice to have so she is not in the danger zone, I mean floor.

Lola's stats:
  • Weight: 14.8 lbs (75th percentile)
  • Height: 26"
  • Head is 17" (90th percentile)
She checked out healthy with her doctor this morning.

She wears size 2 diaper. Most of her clothes are 3-6 month but some are getting pretty short.

Lola is a fabulous sleeper. She goes down at night about 9:30 or 10 and wakes up between 6:30-7! It is great! She takes a long morning nap and a long afternoon. She will still catnap throughout the day (especially if we are out) but I try to keep her more awake so I can get those 2 long naps in.

Lola takes 5 bottles a day every 3-4 hours. She drinks either 4 or 6 oz depending on how long it was the last bottle. We got the "go ahead" to start cereal. I think she will love it since she watches us very closely when we eat.

Lola is so much fun. Lincoln still enjoys having her around but he is not as in her face as he was. Can't wait to see what she does this month!

Our Quick Trip to Glen Rose

This a post that should have been up a long time ago but when I tried the first time blogger wasn't letting me post pics then I forgot. I am finally sitting down to update all our summer adventures.

Back when Shane's parents came to keep Lola the last week of school, we decided to take a quick overnight visit to Glen Rose. We left right after school was out the last day. It was a fun way to start our summer vacation!

We started the trip with dinner at Hollywood and Vine. It is fun restaurant with live bands on weekends and pretty good burgers.

The boy side

We stayed the night in a hotel which was a first for Lincoln. He loved it! He started out in a bed by himself but it ended up being Shane and Lincoln in one bed and Lola and I in another. Shane and I do not practice the family bed (we all like our own space) so there was little sleep that night by all of us!

Lola loved "talking" and smiling to that cute girl in the mirror.

We went to Dinosaur World first the next morning. It was ok. A walk around area with dinosaur statues with lots of trees and there was no breeze. We went through it rather quickly and checked out the (air conditioned) gift shop where Lincoln picked up a few dinosaurs.

After Dinosaur World, we decided to try out the safari park. I wasn't sure how Lincoln would handle since he freaks out with any animal that is not in a cage. But he did surprisingly well, at least when he was on the opposite side of the car of any animal near a window and didn't have to get close.
Lola was not so much a fan of the park.

Tall as a cheetah

Favorite animal all day was the giraffe. This was the only giraffe that came to the car. They are so neat to see up close. The ostrich is a different story though. It came close too and Lincoln will still talk about the ostrich that ate Pappy's finger.

It was a fun, quick getaway and a great start to summer!

Pants are not required in summer

Lincoln does own pants but our "home days" = clothing optional.
Oh how I miss these easy summmer days!

I love when they match!

Who wore it best?

Having different gender kids makes it hard to repeat or pass on clothes. They have shared a few sleepers though so it is fun to compare.
Lincoln received a Nebraska sleeper from my aunt when my cousin played football for the Huskers. Since it is just a red sleeper, Lola was able to wear it too.
Lincoln- 4 1/2 months

Lola- 3 1/2 months

Lola is definitely a little chubbier than Lincoln was and more smiley. But both are pretty cute!

(Yes, I know all the KS family hates this sleeper but I am neutral in my team preference. They wear whatever team colors they are given. Lincoln does have a KS jersey. We will see what team gear Lola receives this fall.)

Happy 4th of July!

We enjoyed a fun-filled holiday with friends, family and fireworks. Lincoln loved the fireworks and glow sticks.

And now we wait another year for fireworks!
