NICU Reunion 2010

Last weekend, our little family attended the Plano Presby NICU Reunion. Every year they invite all the families to come back and "show off" their babies. This year's theme was Rockstars. (You can't see Lincoln's shirt but it has a precious tie cut-out that has guitars on it.)

We got to see a few nurses, a head nurse, and one of the doctors that saw Lincoln. Shane and I came to the conclusion that even though the whole experience was very memorable to us, we were not memorable to most everyone else! If you did not have a multiple birth then they had no idea who you were! Kinda of disappointing but we were thankful that we didn't have to spend more than a month there and become a recognizable face. We probably won't go back again but it was nice to show off how far Lincoln has come from where we started.

One great reason to live in Texas is.....

Bluebonnets!

I love to see the bluebonnets alongside the road and I remember taking pictures with my siblings after church on Sunday. I had great hopes of taking Lincoln for his first pictures in the bluebonnets.....well they weren't great! He was running on little sleep from the crazy weekend and he is having a bit of "spitting up" issue (again!) so I didn't get very good smiley pictures. My mom surprised me with a precious smocked outfit for Lincoln. I kept telling her I was never going to get one since Miss Phoebe gets so many but she was secretly already creating another masterpiece for Little Linc! I love his outfit!

It was pretty comical to have 6 adults trying to get one smile from a 7 month old! Thankful that no one was around! He is a toot when I am trying to take his pictures but he is pretty sweet other than that!

Hope all you other Texans can enjoy the bluebonnets for a little while longer!

Flashback to the 80s

Shane's cousin, Nicole, will be turning 30 in May so I helped with the prep of a 80s theme surprise party. It was fun to look back and see what the trends were (awful clothing and hair!) I was a child of the 80s so I had to do research and go buy my clothes but some of the guests were able to dig in their clothes and actually remember when they wore it! It was fun since almost everyone at the party participated and dressed up.

Shane's parents came in for the celebration so we had a fun, busy weekend with them.

March of Dimes 2010

We had a great time on Saturday for March of Dimes. Team Lincoln had 9 walkers and 2 stroller riders. We walked a total of 5 miles. The rain held off for us so the weather was pretty nice. It was very cool to walk by and read the markers of the babies who have overcome their struggles. There were many "one pound wonders" in the walk and many families formed in memory of their sweet babies. The walk made me want to hug and love on my "healthy baby" and never take anything he does normal for granted.

We raised the money we wanted to and no one passed out on the walk, so all in all it was a great walk!

We rode a shuttle bus to White Rock Lake. Lincoln was in awe of riding on the bus without a carseat.

Easter 2010

I figured I should go ahead and post about Easter or it might be 4th of July before I get around to it!

Lincoln had a great first Easter. He got to experience Canton for the first time on Saturday and was great the whole day. But I think we might still use our free Canton babysitter (Grandaddy) if he is available next month!

Sunday Lincoln got his goodies from the Easter bunny and dressed his Easter best for church. After church we headed over to my parents for lunch and lounging a bit. It was a relaxing Easter and the egg hunting will come next year.

Lincoln's bucket filled with jammies, a book, a barking dog, and a monkey rattle (from Nena and Grandaddy) Can't wait to use it next year at the egg hunt!

Lincoln also got a basket from his Gigi and Pappy in KS. It was all baseball stuff. He is ready to play.

It was a great way to spend Lincoln's first Easter! Now on to the next holiday!

6 month post (finally!)

I am finally getting around to posting his monthly monkey pictures. Here are a few things I want to remember about Lincoln this past month (scroll down if you are not a grandparent since I am sure that is all that reads these details!)

• Lincoln is still an eating machine. He has 5 bottles a day of 8 oz each time. We had to go back to thickening his formula so it is thickened but very little. He also gets oatmeal or rice cereal in the AM and a vegetable or fruit at night. He has tried all the veggies and has loved them all, especially the carrots and green beans. He is having to get used to the sweetness of the fruit but he is not one to turn down a meal! His doctor was shocked that he didn't weigh more with the amount of food he eats. Lincoln weighs 14 lbs and 4 oz which is still the 4th percentile. Lincoln gets very excited when he sees the bottle made will moved every part of his body to show that he is ready!
• Lincoln's length is 26 in which is the 50th percentile. That is the largest percentile he has ever been! Maybe he will be a tall, skinny boy!
• Lincoln is still a great sleeper. He sleeps from about 7:30ish until about 5:30-6:00. If he wakes up in the AM before 6 then he will stay in bed and talk to himself until we go and get him. He sure has a big ole grin on his face when he sees someone early in the morning. He is definitely a morning baby! Lincoln takes about 3 naps a day lasting from an hour to two hours depending on what has been going on. He is not a great napper if we are out somewhere but it doesn't usually effect his mood if he misses a nap (usually is the key word!) He is becoming much better at napping during the day.
• Lincoln still gets swaddled at night but comes undone on his own and still sleeps once he is free. He has recently been moving around in his bed and we are unsure where in the bed he will be in the morning. He has rolled from back to front only once his sleep.
• Lincoln is a very smiley and social boy! His grin spreads across his face and most anyone can get a smile out of him. Sometimes it is hard to focus in church because people are coming up to us (during church!) to comment on how cute and smiley he is! He is a ham!
• We have graduated from the development specialist! Yippee! One less medical person we have to see. Lincoln's doctor believes he is right on schedule and will watch his development and make decisions as we go but for now we are right on track of what he "needs" to be doing at this stage.
• Lincoln can roll both ways but usually ends up on his back. He can sit for a few seconds unassisted and he is nowhere close to crawling! Oh well, better for Shane and I to not have him mobile for awhile!
• Lincoln has been great at the sitter's. She says he is a great baby and gives her easy to read cues of what he needs. The other kids love him and I think he likes to watch them all day! He has been twice this month and I am sure it is from being around the other kiddos. He had a stomach bug (which he shared with Shane and my dad, he is pretty generous!) and a viral infection. Hopefully we will stay germ free for the next 2 months!

Other than all that he is great and super fun!
